Mary Lim-Lampe is the Executive Director of Genesis, the Bay Area affiliate of the Gamaliel Network, of which First Congregational Church of Oakland is a founding member. She was called into organizing during a "perfect storm" at a Gamaliel Network organizer training when a good agitation by her mother was followed by her throwing up and making a decision to come out of the shadows and build power, in community.

Mary graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (BA-Political Science) and has a juris doctorate from St. Louis University-School of Law. Mary began her work as the community organizer for MORE2 (Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equity), the Gamaliel Affiliate in her home town of Kansas City, Missouri.

The biggest reason “why” Mary works in the justice field is her 12 year old daughter, Caitlyn.
