Faith in Action
Rev. Dr. Marsha Foster Boyd
Schmian Evans holds an M.Div. degree, with an emphasis in Sexuality and Religion, from Pacific School of Religion and a B.A. in Gender Studies from California State University, Stanislaus. She continues her studies, under full scholarship, in the Women and Gender Studies M.A. program at San Francisco State University.
For more than a decade, Schmian has been an advocate for historically marginalized populations, serving as an educator in inner city schools and an organizational leader working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Today, she continues her advocacy work by serving as a “bridge builder” in spiritual communities seeking to explore the complexities associated with sex, gender and sexuality variances. She developed and currently teaches a course entitled, Human Sexuality: Histories, Theologies and Politics of the Flesh at PSR.
Utilizing a variety of mediums, Schmian remains dedicated to the work and service of creating a more just world.
